Basic electricity and electronics are not hard to learn, if you already have your parts and tutorials at hand. If not, if will probably take you forever and a day to track down all of the parts you need for each experiment you pick from your books or the Internet!
I bought an old “InterTan 300 in One Electronic Project Lab” that was complete with all parts and a very comprehensive instruction/project book. Similar items were also sold by Radio Shack and other vendors, and are easy to find on eBay.
Although each lesson is very basic, you have what you need to learn about circuits. The lessons on digital logic are very good, and there is even one for a digital countdown timer that might be suitable for launching a model rocket. Once you have completed most of the projects in this lab, you should have no trouble understanding circuits you find online or in books and magazines.
